In the hope of respite from raising her teenage children and caring for her sick father, divorcee Adrienne has gone to the coastal village of Rodanthe to tend the local inn for the weekend. But with a major storm brewing, the weekend doesn't look promising, until a guest named Paul Flanner arrives.
